Think Twice Before Buying Candy Popular Candy Products Recalled for Safety Concerns!

If you’re planning to grab some candy on your next store run, you might want to take a closer look at that label. A serious recall has been issued for several candy brands sold across the U.S.

TikToker Ajayllah (@ajayllah) recently took to social media to warn her followers about the recall, urging them to be cautious when shopping at stores like Walmart and Target.

“I don’t care how good your kids are being in the store. Do not let them grab any candy from the checkout aisle,” she said in a video that’s already been viewed over 1.6 million times. “Candy is on recall.”

Which Candy Products Are Recalled and What Happened?

Around two dozen products made by Palmer Candy Company have been affected by the recall. These include various brands sold at Walmart, Target, Dollar General, Hyvee, and even products distributed to other states.

The recall was initially issued in May, with an update adding more products just weeks later. But in early August, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) applied a Class 1 risk level to the recall, which is the most serious.

This level is used when there’s a “reasonable probability that the use of, or exposure to, a violative product will cause serious adverse health consequences or death.”

As Ajayllah bluntly put it, “Discard immediately. You will be messed up if you don’t.”

According to the FDA, the issue involves the liquid coating used on products like Patriotic Pretzels and Zebra Fudge Cookies.

While no incidents have been reported so far, there’s concern that the coating might have been contaminated with salmonella higher up in the supply chain.

Concerns Over Multiple Recalls!

Ajayllah also mentioned an ongoing recall of Silk non-dairy milk products. Canadians have been advised against purchasing Silk and Great Value due to potential listeria contamination. The listeria outbreak has been active since August of last year, resulting in at least 20 illnesses and three deaths.

Her TikTok followers shared their concerns and frustrations about the increasing number of recalls and potential health risks. In August alone, the FDA issued 24 recalls, with 17 of them related to food and beverages.

One user commented, “I think the appropriate question is, what’s NOT on recall?” Another joked, “At this point, we’re buying groceries just to throw them away.”

A third person added, “I was about to say I’m glad I eat healthy, but tomorrow all the lettuce and spinach products will probably be contaminated.”
