A Black beauty influencer has expressed her gratitude to Hailey Bieber for “treating me like a human” after previously criticizing the inclusivity of Bieber’s new blush line, Rhode.
This summer, Hailey Bieber’s beauty and skincare brand, Rhode, launched its first blush collection, “Pocket Blush,” featuring six shades. Golloria George, a popular beauty content creator with two million followers on TikTok, recently reviewed the product on her platform. Initially, her experience was less than satisfying.

George shared her thoughts in a TikTok video posted on August 5, where she showcased the Pocket Blush shades she believed would complement dark skin tones: Juice Box, Spicy Marg, and Toasted Teddy.
However, after applying Juice Box, a hot pink shade, and Spicy Marg, a vibrant orange, she was disappointed to see that the cream blush appeared “ashy” on her skin. Toasted Teddy, a brownish shade, barely showed up on her face.

In her video, which quickly garnered over 11 million views, George candidly expressed her frustration. She said:
“I just feel like in 2024, if you’re going to release anything for complexions, it should work for all skin tones and complexions.”
She pointed out that the blush line needed improvement to be truly inclusive.
Surprisingly, it seems Hailey Bieber took notice of George’s critique. In a follow-up TikTok posted on August 31, George shared an update on her experience with the Rhode Pocket Blush. This time, her review was much more positive.
“This is why I speak up,” George said as she applied the blush to her cheek again. This time, she was thrilled with the results. The first shade, a rosy pink, looked naturally pigmented on her skin, giving her a beautiful, flushed appearance without any hint of ashiness.

She then applied a deeper berry shade, which also impressed her. “This is why you advocate for yourself,” George remarked. “You see what happens when you’re not complacent?”
Although George didn’t specify which shades she used in her updated review, it appeared that Rhode had either sent her new shades or adjusted the formula to better suit all skin tones.
In a heartfelt moment, George directly addressed Hailey Bieber, thanking her for reaching out and listening to her concerns. “Hailey, thank you for listening to me and treating me like a human. This is redemption,” she said.
She also praised Bieber in her caption: “Bravo. Your voice can elicit change. Wonderfully done, thank you for listening to Black women!”
Hailey Bieber, who recently became a mom with her husband Justin Bieber, launched Rhode in June 2022 with a line of minimalist skincare products. Named after her middle name, the brand debuted with five products, including a serum, moisturizer, and lip treatment, all priced between $16 and $29.
Rhode introduced its Pocket Blush, a creamy stick formula, in June 2024. The brand even gained attention with a viral phone case designed to hold their Peptide Lip Treatment or Tint, adding a trendy touch to their minimalist line.
This exchange between George and Bieber is a powerful reminder of the impact of speaking up and the importance of inclusivity in the beauty industry.
