Achievements/Awards

About the Department:

With the Government Order dated 05-09-1962 the Kalimpong College was established with the aim of providing higher education to the people of the Kalimpong. At the beginning college was established with the general degree courses in the stream of Arts. Since its inception Political Science was offered as general course along with other subjects. This was necessary because in all the high schools of Kalimpong and its adjoining areas economics and civics was taught as a compulsory subject. Later on Political Science was in the most of the schools at the Higher Secondary Level. It became more imperative to give the students more specialized knowledge and understanding of the wider dimension of the subject. Beside these, a student with good marks and desire for serious studies on the subject had to go elsewhere for Honours Course. Hence to meet the desire need, the Honours course in the subject was introduced in 1967. Since 1967 numerous students have passed out from the department and currently the department have 131 Honours student and
