Could Mike Tyson Really Hurt Jake Paul? Here’s What an Insider Says

As the highly anticipated fight between Mike Tyson and Jake Paul approaches, a former sparring partner of Tyson suggests that the legendary heavyweight might “pull his punches” to avoid seriously hurting the YouTuber-turned-boxer.

Tyson is set to face off against Paul on November 15 in Arlington, Texas, marking a first-of-its-kind event that will be live-streamed on Netflix. Originally scheduled for July, the fight was postponed due to a health scare Tyson experienced.

The upcoming match has sparked opinions from all corners, with everyone from Joe Rogan to former world super-middleweight champion Carl Froch weighing in. However, an insider claims that when the two finally meet in the ring, Tyson will likely hold back.

“For me, it’s going to be a glorified sparring session,” said Joe Egan, Tyson’s former sparring partner, in a conversation with TalkSPORT.

Egan recalled Tyson’s last exhibition match against Roy Jones Jr., where Tyson landed a body shot that could have done serious damage. “When Mike boxed Roy Jones Jr., he hit Roy with a body shot and sunk him. Mike knew he could hurt Roy Jones,” Egan explained.

“Anybody that Mike hits is going to hurt, probably knock out as well, but he carried Roy Jones. I never believed Mike Tyson could carry anybody because when I sparred him at Catskill, every punch he threw was with bad intentions. He was a vicious, ferocious, savage heavyweight.”

Egan continued

Egan noted that Tyson has mellowed with age, which was evident in his fight with Jones. “To see him mellow with age is wonderful, and what he did with Roy Jones was incredible.”

Jake Paul was on the undercard of that same event, and after witnessing Tyson’s restraint, Egan speculates that Paul might feel confident stepping into the ring with Tyson. “You’ve got to admire him for getting in the ring with Mike Tyson, but I don’t think Mike will go full force on him,” Egan added.

Egan concluded with a stark warning: “If Mike went full force on Jake Paul, he could seriously hurt him, never mind about the age.”

This fight promises to be an interesting blend of spectacle and skill, with fans eagerly awaiting to see how Tyson approaches this unique matchup.
