Christina Aguilera is celebrating the 25th anniversary of her iconic debut album in a big way. To mark the occasion, she’s releasing live, reimagined versions of the album’s biggest hits for a special episode of Spotify Anniversaries, set to drop on September 23.
In the episode, Aguilera will collaborate with Sabrina Carpenter and MGK, while also sharing behind-the-scenes stories about the making of the album.
Honoring the Past and Present!
“I wanted to celebrate the 25th anniversary of my debut album in a way that brings together the past and present,” Aguilera told Rolling Stone.
“I’ve always loved reimagining my songs, experimenting with different styles and arrangements that show how music can be timeless.”
Fans will get to hear new versions of classic hits like “Genie in a Bottle,” “What a Girl Wants,” and “I Turn to You.”
The project also includes a six-track EP recorded at Spotify’s Mateo Studios in Los Angeles, bringing back all the nostalgia from the late ’90s.
A Magical and Nostalgic Experience
In the trailer for the special, Aguilera is seen sitting in a cozy, warm living room while holding one of her signature high notes, singing, “Celebrating 25 years.”
Reflecting on the experience, Aguilera shared how meaningful it was to relive such a special time in her career. She said:
“Recording this project with Spotify was both magical and nostalgic, resurfacing some of my sweetest career memories. I laughed, I cried, and I reconnected with old friends while making new ones.”
Alongside the live recordings, the Spotify Anniversaries episode will include interviews with Aguilera, where she talks about the creative process and the making of the album that launched her career.
“I hope this anniversary gift is just as special for you to watch as it was for me to make,” she added.
