This time, she’ll be taking on a very different role in the dark comedy How to Kill Your Family. Taylor-Joy is set to star as Grace Bernard, a scorned illegitimate daughter who’s out for revenge against her wealthy biological father. Why Anya Taylor-Joy Is Perfect for the Role Bella Mackie, the author of the 2021 novel How to Kill Your Family—on which the show is based—believes Taylor-Joy is the ideal choice for the role. “Anya is the most perfect fit to play Grace. I often think she understands her better than I do,” Mackie shared. Taylor-Joy was immediately drawn to the story, saying, “As soon as I turned the last page, I knew I had to be a part of bringing this story to life.” She added that after a bit of “light” stalking of Mackie, she’s thrilled to be working with the executive producers Sally Woodward Gentle, Lizzie Rusbridger, and Emma Moran. What Is How to Kill Your Family About? The show is based on Mackie’s satirical novel, following Grace Bernard as she seeks revenge on her estranged millionaire father. After he abandons her and her mother, refusing to help as her mother is dying, Grace decides to take matters into her own hands. Her plan? To eliminate his entire family so she can claim his inheritance. The story is described as “funny, sharp, dark, and twisted,” promising a wild ride for viewers. Who’s in the Cast and Crew? So far, no other cast members have been announced. However, Emma Moran, the creator and writer of Hulu’s Extraordinary, is leading the writing team. Moran is excited to adapt Mackie’s novel, saying: “[Grace is] the kind of complicated, dark, but utterly hilarious antihero you dream of writing. Striking that balance between camp fun and brutal violence that Bella hits so perfectly in the book is a challenge I’m so looking forward to.” The show’s executive producers include Bella Mackie, Emma Moran, Sally Woodward Gentle (known for her work on Killing Eve), Lizzie Rusbridger, and Anya Taylor-Joy herself.
