In a rare and open interview with GQ this Tuesday, Beyoncé gave fans a glimpse into her life as a mom, sharing details about the personalities of her three children—12-year-old Blue Ivy, and six-year-old twins Rumi and Sir, whom she shares with her husband, Jay-Z.
Raising Three Kids: “It Takes Prayer and Patience”
Beyoncé, who usually keeps her family life private, talked about the challenges and joys of raising her kids. “Raising three kids isn’t easy,” she admitted.
“The older they get, the more they become their own individuals with unique needs, hobbies, and social lives. My twins are God-sent. Parenting constantly teaches you about yourself. It takes a lot of prayer and patience. I love it. It’s grounding and fulfilling.”

Blue Ivy’s Love for the Stage
Beyoncé also shared a proud moment about her eldest daughter, Blue Ivy, who recently joined her onstage during the Renaissance World Tour. Surprisingly, it was Blue’s idea to perform.
“Blue is an artist,” Beyoncé said, gushing about her daughter’s talents. “She has great taste in music and fashion. She’s a fantastic editor, painter, and actress. She’s been creating characters since she was three.”
The singer revealed that she didn’t initially want Blue onstage, but her daughter was determined.
“Blue wanted it for herself. She took it seriously and she earned it. And most importantly, she had fun! We all watched her grow more and more every night before our eyes.”

Family First, Career Second
For Beyoncé, family always comes first, even with her busy career. She explained how she manages to balance it all. She shared:
“I build my work schedule around my family. I try to only tour when my kids are out of school. I always dreamt of a life where I could see the world with my family and expose them to different languages, architecture, and lifestyles.”
Her children are also deeply involved in her life and work. “My kids come with me everywhere I go. They come to my office after school, they’re in the studio with me, and they’re in dance rehearsals. It’s natural that they would learn my choreography.”

Protecting Her Family’s Privacy in a Digital World!
Despite being one of the most famous people on the planet, Beyoncé works hard to protect her family’s privacy. She opened up about the challenges of raising kids in today’s world of constant information and social media.
Beyoncé explained
“We live in a world of access. We have access to so much information—some facts, and some complete b******* disguised as truth. Our children can FaceTime and see their friends at any given moment. My husband and I? We used calling cards and Skype when we were falling in love.”
She also touched on the blurred lines between reality and fantasy, especially with advances in technology. “Just recently, I heard an AI song that sounded so much like me it scared me. It’s impossible to truly know what’s real and what’s not.”

Boundaries and Balance!
Beyoncé emphasized that maintaining her family’s normalcy and privacy is her top priority. “I work extremely hard to ensure my kids can have as much normalcy and privacy as possible, ensuring my personal life isn’t turned into a brand,” she said.
“It’s very easy for celebrities to turn our lives into performance art. I’ve made an extreme effort to stay true to my boundaries and protect myself and my family. No amount of money is worth my peace.”
