Angelina Jolie Reveals the Meaning Behind Her New Tattoo with Daughter Vivienne!

Angelina Jolie recently opened up about a special bond she shares with her daughter, Vivienne, through a matching tattoo. In a candid interview with CR Fashion Book, Jolie discussed her latest ink and the meaning behind it.

“I got ‘Stay Gold’ with my daughter Viv during our time working on The Outsiders,” Jolie shared. “It means so much to us, both individually and together. I also have a bird tattoo that I share with some of my other children, which is very personal to us.”

A Special Connection Through The Outsiders!

The phrase “Stay Gold” holds a significant meaning for Jolie and Vivienne. It comes from The Outsiders, a 1967 novel by S.E. Hinton that tells the story of two rival gangs, the Greasers and the Socs, divided by their social status. The novel was adapted into a 1983 movie and more recently, a Broadway musical, which opened in April.

Both Jolie and Vivienne worked on the Broadway production together—Jolie as a lead producer and Vivienne as an assistant. The words “Stay Gold” are not only part of one character’s final moments in the story, but also the title of a song in the musical.

Vivienne: A Tough Assistant

Jolie has often spoken about working alongside her daughter and how it was Vivienne who first introduced her to the musical. “She saw an early workshop a few times and invited me to it,” Jolie told People.

Vivienne has been very involved in the production, assisting in any way she could and learning from the creative team. Jolie affectionately described her daughter as a “tough assistant,” noting that Vivienne isn’t afraid to keep her in check.

“She’ll correct me,” Jolie said with a laugh. “‘Didn’t you read the memo? We have to go through this.’ She takes it very, very seriously.”

A Glimpse Into the Jolie-Pitt Family

Jolie shares six children with her ex-husband Brad Pitt: Maddox (23), Pax (20), Zahara (19), Shiloh (18), and twins Vivienne and Knox (16). Although Vivienne and Knox are still in high school, Jolie has already begun thinking about what’s next once her twins turn 18.

In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Jolie opened up about her future plans. She revealed that while she’s remained in Los Angeles for the sake of her divorce proceedings, she plans to leave once her twins are grown.

“I have to be here because of the divorce,” she explained. “But as soon as they’re 18, I’ll be able to leave.”

Her first stop? Cambodia, where she adopted her eldest son Maddox in 2002. “I’ll spend a lot of time in Cambodia and visit my family members wherever they are in the world,” she shared.

A Desire for Privacy and Peace

As a mother of six, Jolie values privacy and safety for her children. She reflected on how her early travels gave her a sense of humanity and connection, something she feels isn’t always present in Los Angeles. She said:

“When you have a big family, you want them to have privacy, peace, and safety. I have a house to raise my children in, but sometimes the world I found through my travels feels different from what I experienced growing up here.”

With her matching tattoos and strong family bonds, it’s clear that Jolie’s love for her children and her desire to protect them is at the heart of everything she does.
