Shyne Breaks Silence: Diddy Sent Me to Prison After 1999 Nightclub Drama

Shyne, the former Bad Boy rapper, has spoken out about how Sean “Diddy” Combs “destroyed my life” after a 1999 nightclub shooting in New York.

Shyne, now known as Moses Barrow, was signed to Diddy’s Bad Boy Records in 1998 and was a rising star at the time.

The 1999 Club New York Shooting

In December 1999, Shyne, Diddy, and Diddy’s then-girlfriend Jennifer Lopez were at Club New York in Manhattan. A heated argument broke out between Diddy and another man, Matthew “Scar” Allen.

The situation escalated, guns were drawn, and three bystanders were injured during the chaos.

At the trial, Shyne was convicted of assault and reckless endangerment, resulting in him spending nine years in a maximum-security prison. Diddy, however, was acquitted of all charges.

Shyne Reflects on Betrayal and Forgiveness

In a recent interview with Channel 5 News in Belize, where Shyne is now a politician and Leader of the Opposition, he opened up about his relationship with Diddy. Shyne shared:

“When I was just an 18-year-old kid, all I wanted was to make my mother proud and represent Belize. I was defending him in that moment, but he turned around and called witnesses against me. He pretty much sent me to prison.”

Shyne made it clear that while he has forgiven Diddy, he doesn’t want to sugarcoat what happened. “Let’s not pretend we had some great brotherhood. This is someone who destroyed my life, and I forgave him. I moved on, but that’s the truth.”

Moving Forward for Belize

Despite the past, Shyne admitted that for the betterment of Belize, he did try to work with Diddy when he was in a position to contribute to education and offer scholarships. “I wouldn’t deny trying to bring investment and educational opportunities to Belize.”

When asked about Diddy’s recent legal troubles, Shyne emphasized that he feels no joy in seeing anyone struggle. “Do I take any joy in what he’s going through? Absolutely not. I’m not that kind of person. No one needs to fail for me to succeed.”

Diddy’s Recent Arrest and Legal Battles

Diddy was recently arrested by federal agents in New York after facing months of civil lawsuits accusing him of sex trafficking, sexual abuse, and rape.

In an indictment unsealed on Tuesday, prosecutors allege that Diddy and his associates coerced women into fulfilling his sexual desires, including forcing victims into recorded sexual acts referred to as “Freak Outs.”

Diddy’s lawyer has responded to the allegations, calling him “an innocent man with nothing to hide.”
