Sean “Diddy” Combs has officially traded his luxurious LA and Miami mansions for a cell at the infamous Metropolitan Detention Center (MDC) in Brooklyn. The music mogul is now awaiting trial after being charged with racketeering and sex trafficking.
As he adjusts to life behind bars, Diddy’s first meal at the notorious New York jail has been revealed. According to The New York Post, his first dinner was Swedish meatballs, a common offering at the prison.
He also had the option of a vegetarian black bean burger, along with egg noodles, green beans, a garden salad with dressing, and a beverage.
Far From the Glitz and Glam
This new routine is a far cry from the life Diddy once knew. Instead of fancy dinners and private chefs, he will now be served three meals a day, delivered straight to his cell.
His days start early, with a 6 a.m. wake-up call, as former warden Cameron Lindsay told TMZ. Diddy will be expected to make his own bed and even mop the floor of his cell.
He’ll also get one hour of recreation time each day and will only be allowed to shower three times a week.

Why Is Diddy in a Special Unit?
Diddy is being held in the Special Housing Unit (SHU) at MDC, separated from the general population. This is reportedly for security reasons. Lindsay explained that some inmates might see attacking a famous inmate like Diddy as “a badge of honor.”
Family and friends will be allowed to visit periodically, while his lawyers will be in and out frequently as they prepare his defense.

Facing Serious Charges
Diddy was arrested on Monday in New York and faces charges of racketeering, sex trafficking, and transporting individuals for prostitution. These allegations stem from what prosecutors describe as a decades-long “criminal enterprise” that forced victims into sex acts.
The music mogul pleaded not guilty to all charges. His legal team initially requested house arrest while awaiting trial, but the judge denied it. A second appeal was also rejected.

Life Inside MDC
MDC is notorious for its harsh conditions. The facility has been criticized for being understaffed, violent, and unsanitary. In fact, Diddy’s legal team argued that the jail’s conditions are unfit for pre-trial detention.
Earlier this year, an inmate was fatally stabbed, and many describe the jail as a dangerous place where violence is a regular occurrence.
Former inmate Eli told Spectrum News NY1 that stabbings happen at least a couple of times a week, describing the weapons used as homemade knives made from the jail’s steel walls.
MDC has housed other high-profile inmates before, including sex trafficker Ghislaine Maxwell, Fyre Festival fraudster Billy McFarland, and rapper R. Kelly, who was found guilty of child sexual abuse.
For now, Diddy will remain at MDC while his legal battle continues, adjusting to a drastically different reality behind bars.
