“She was the first person I met in New York,” Rudd recalled in a 2018 Marie Claire UK interview. He was immediately struck by Julie’s maturity and the connection they shared, which stemmed from their mutual experiences with tragedy. “I thought, ‘Wow, this is a woman. This isn’t a girl.’”

Paul and Julie tied the knot in a private ceremony in 2003, and they’ve been by each other’s side ever since. In an interview with Elle in 2011, Rudd shared how they’d been together for 16 years at that point and didn’t expect to become tabloid news anytime soon.
“My wife and I have been together for 16 years. My parents were married my whole life until my father passed away a few years ago,” Rudd said.
