One day after Artem Chigvintse was arrested for domestic violence in Napa County, his wife, Nikki Bella, is asking for privacy during this difficult time.
On Friday, a representative for Bella—whose legal name is Nikki Garcia—shared a statement with Fox News Digital: “This is a private matter, and Nikki asks for privacy for her and her family at this time.”
Chigvintsev, a 42-year-old professional dancer best known for his work on “Dancing with the Stars,” was arrested on Thursday morning around 9:40 a.m.
He was charged under California Penal Code Section 273.5(a) PC, which covers domestic violence or corporal injury to a spouse, former spouse, cohabitant, former cohabitant, or the parent of one’s child.
Chigvintsev was booked at 10:40 a.m. and later released on bail at approximately 2:18 p.m. the same day. His bail was set at $25,000.

At this time, it is unclear whether Nikki Bella was directly involved in the incident. Napa County Sheriff’s public information officer, Henry Wofford, explained in a statement to E! News:
“When someone is charged with felony domestic violence, usually this means there is a visible injury or credible eyewitness.”
Wofford also noted that specific details, including the victim’s identity, are being withheld to protect the privacy of those involved in domestic violence cases.
There are also reports that Chigvintsev was not slated to be part of the upcoming Season 33 of “Dancing with the Stars,” which premieres next month.

The arrest occurred just two days after Chigvintsev and Bella celebrated their two-year wedding anniversary. Chigvintsev posted a heartfelt tribute on Instagram, writing, “Happy anniversary my love, can’t see my life without you. You are my everything.”
Bella also shared a sentimental post, featuring a video montage from their wedding day set to “Can’t Help Falling In Love.” She reflected on the early days of their relationship, writing:
“I’ll never forget where I was when I asked Jesus about Artem… How my feelings felt too soon. It all felt too fast. And then this song came on. And that’s when I knew that I was falling in love with him and that it was all meant to be.”
The couple shares a four-year-old son, Matteo.
